I get spam. You get spam. We all get spam.
I view the spam I’ve received here as a bit of a guilty pleasure. Just like settling in on a snowy Saturday and watching cartoons – minus the kids.
I thought I’d share the kind of spam I get and the posts that gave me this glorious gift. I get a kick out of checking the spam queue and seeing what little gems of wisdom show up and to what post they zeroed in on.
Right now I have 9 spam messages. The most popular post for spam has been Sunday Quotes from a couple of week ago. 6 of the 9 responded to that post.
By the by, I do a Food Porn post most Fridays. You would think with the word porn in the name I would get some spam action for that post but, alas, no.
So, here’s some highlights of what they had to say and what I’ve gleamed from the Sunday Quotes spams:
- the spammers want me to know that I know what I’m talking about ( just so that you know, I know that I know what I’m talking about when I copy and paste),
- something about quotes is arduous (must by all that copying and pasting),
- whoever is using the word “weblog” in their canned response obviously hasn’t updated in years,
- seriously, who uses “weblog” anymore and
- 4 of the 6 said thanks (manners, one must always use manners when spamming).
And here’s some of the spam:

The other post that spammers spammed their way to was the post The ABCs of Disability – The Letter W where I talked about asking “why” and “why me” when dealing with a chronic illness. Which of course explains why the 3 remaining spam had multiple links to somewhere and such intriguing sentences such as:
Alexandria was heavily fortified,
Nonetheless a substantial part of the UK population still lives in council housing,
and my very favourite response:
There are many psychological ailments commonly misunderstood as demonic possession.
Oh, and something else I have learned about spam:
- apostrophes are not necessary for contractions and
- spell check is optional.
