If you want to be respected by others the great thing is to respect yourself.  Only by that, only by self-respect will you compel others to respect you.

Fyodor Dostoyevsky

You do not need to be the designated driver of someone’s intoxicated ego.

Dodinsky

Respecting yourself means listening to your body and emotions continuously.  Then acting beyond a linear logic to achieve ones goals.

It is the highest form of self-respect to admit our errors and mistakes and make amends for them.  To make a mistake is only an error in judgment, but to adhere to it when it is discovered shows infirmity of character.

  1. I am completely hooked on this column. I would like to re-blog it every Sunday on our support group blog with a reference to Ataxia.

Sunshine and Chaos’s Sunday Quotes – Yes, I Have Ataxia
I’ve been reading the Sunshine and Chaos blog and am hooked. Every Sunday, she lists quotes and I have decided to re-blog her column each weak. I have decided to add to my repertoire of blogging by commenting on one quote each weak as it relates to Ataxia.
Today’s quote of choice is: “Respecting yourself means listening to your body and emotions continuously.  Then acting beyond a linear logic to achieve ones goals.” Author Unknown
To me, this quote means that I need to accept my limitations due to Ataxia, and accept them. I need to do what I can, and be proud of what I do. I used to worry that I was being too selfish or conceited. No, I’m not. I’m proud of who I am and hopefully can encourage others to be proud of themselves too.
